Itineraries

Day 1

ARRIVAL - COLOMBO

Upon arrival, when you leave the airport terminal please look for Lanka Holidays Net tour guide displaying a signboard with your name.
You will be driven to the hotel and then spend the remaining time leisurely or have a walk in the area.

Day 2

COLOMBO CITY TOUR

After breakfast commence a city tour of Colombo.

Colombo - A drive through the city will take you to the Fort and Pettah - the commercial area of the city and tree-lined Colombo - 07 Cinnamon Gardens. The Hindu Temple at Sea Street, lined with goldsmith's shops, the Dutch Church at Wolfendhal, dating back to 1749. The Independence Hall, B.M.I.C.H, see the replica of Avukana Buddha, national museum, the Independence Square and Gangarama Temple. .

Remaining day at leisure.

Day 3

COLOMBO - HABARANA

After having breakfast proceeds to visit Pinnawala elephant orphanage which is a home to orphaned elephants. See carbs get bottle fed and get bathed a fine sight to see.

Afterwards Continue to Habarana.
Habarana, the city where culture, nature and adventure meets. The city considered as a convenient base to the main attractions such as national parks and many UNESCO World heritage sites.

Day 4

HABARANA- ANURADHAPURA- HABARANA

After breakfast, transfer to Anuradhapura then Proceed on sightseeing tour of archaeological sites.

Anuradhapura was the first capital of Sri Lanka, famous for its well-preserved ruins of ancient Lankan civilization. From the 4th century BC, it was the capital of Sri Lanka until the beginning of the 11th century AD. During this period it remained one of the most stable and durable centers of political power and urban life in South Asia. Sri Maha Bodhi (Sacred Bo-Tree) was brought as a sapling of the tree under which prince Siddhartha attained to enlightenment and it is over 2,200 years old and is the oldest historically documented tree in the world. Samadhi' Buddha statue (4th century AD) is one of the most famous statues, depicting the Buddha in a state of 'Samadhi' ; deep meditation.

Day 5

HABARANA- SIGIRIYA ROCK - POLONNARUWA

Today you will set off to visit the world famous 5th Century Sigiriya Rock Fortress, one of the island's most awe-inspiring archaeological attractions. The fortress stands alone in the middle of jungle also known as Lion Rock because of the huge lion that used to stand at the entrance to the fortress. On its summit are the foundations of what was once a great and sumptuous palace and gardens complete with swimming pool.

On completion transfer to Polonnaruwa then proceed with sightseeing tour.

Polonnaruwa which was the 2nd capital of Sri Lanka - the Capital of Sri Lanka from 11th - 13th Century, contains some splendid and spectacular status. Lankatilake, Thivanka and Thuparama are the most beautiful and largest shrine ruins and Thivanka has the best example of frescoes of the Polonnaruwa period. Rankot Vihara and Kiriwehera are well preserved large stupas, and Gal Vihare - a rock shrine, has four Buddha statues, two seated, one standing and one reclining and Parakrama Bahu statue are examples of Sinhalese stone carver. The Vata-da-ge is a unique creation of Sri Lankan artists and the remains of a former Temple of the Tooth Relic

Day 6

HABARANA- DAMBULLA- KANDY

After breakfast you will be collected to go to the yet another marvelous city- Kandy where Sri Lanka’s most sacred attraction, the temple of tooth relic situated.

En-route visit Dambulla Golden cave temple in the evening. A wealth of UNESCO World heritage site’s history goes back to 1st century BC. This complex of five cave’s walls and ceilings are covered with beautiful ancient Buddhist paintings, one of the largest extents of cave paintings found in the world.

En-route you will get the chance to stop at a spice garden to witness how these spices grow and the process of spice making. Enjoy authentic – Sri Lankan cuisine made out of best of Sri Lankan spices at the spice garden.

Day 7

KANDY

After breakfast visit the Royal Botanical Garden at Peradeniya, Sri Lankan's largest and finest garden. Originally established as a pleasure garden for Kandyan nobility, the British transformed it into botanical gardens in 1821, laying the foundations for what it has become today.

In the evening visit the temple of tooth Relic ‘ Sri Lanka’s most prized possession. Take a tour around the picturesque lakeside city, and witness the majesty of the last kingdom of Sri Lanka.

When the sun is setting, it is the time to enjoy a unique cultural show, the best opportunity to witness the greatness of country’s rich tradition and culture.

Day 8

KANDY/ TEA PLANTATION / NUWARAELIYA

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel.

Then drive to Nuwara Eliya visiting a tea estate and a factory en route

Nuwara Eliya - The ‘Little England’ of Sri Lanka, is set against beautiful backdrops of Mountains, Valleys, Waterfalls and Tea Plantations. It is supposed to be one of the coldest places on the island, but is really just like an England spring day although the temperature does drop at night. All around Nuwara Eliya you will see evidence of the British influence. Houses are like country cottages or Queen Ann style mansions. Nuwara-Eliya also has one of the finest 18 hole golf courses in South Asia.

In the evening take a tour around the city.

Day 9

NUWARA ELIYA - TISSAMAHARAMA

After breakfast, transfer to Tissamaharama. You will visit Buduruwagala along the way, with its stunning Buddha carved into a cliff in the jungle.
Then proceed to Yala, Sri Lanka's one of the popular national parks, home to a dizzying array of wildlife and birds.

Day 10

YALA NATIONAL PARK

A typical day starts with a 0530hrs wake-up call, and then setting out on a game drive by 0545hrs. Return to the camp for 0900hrs for breakfast and a bit of time to relax before setting out on another game drive in the late afternoon
Yala National Park -Spend your days exploring Yala National Park in search of the resident wildlife. Yala National Park with a total protected area of about 1300 sq. kms has varying landscapes which consist of scrub plains, jungles, rocky outcrops, fresh water lakes, rivers and beaches. It is one of the best places to see a variety of Sri Lankan wildlife boasting one of the world's densest leopard populations. Yala also has sloth bears, sambar deer, spotted deer, Asian Elephants, wild boar, crocodiles, monkeys, reptiles, buffalos and numerous species of birds

Day 11

TISSAMAHARAMA / GALLE

After breakfast proceed on a sightseeing tour of Galle including the Dutch Fort

The Fort of Galle - The South Coast’s major city is Galle, whose oldest landmark is the massive Portuguese and Dutch fort in which the central city is contained. But the city may be much older. Some scholars believe it to be the ‘Tarshish’ of the Old testament, to which King Solomon sent his merchant Vessels, and to which Jonah fled from the Lord. Today, the 90 acre Galle Fort who’s no evidence of the Portuguese founders. The Dutch incorporated the Portuguese northern wall in a great rampart in 1663. A second, taller wall was build inside of it. Between the two walls, a covered passage connected the central bastion with the fort’s two half bastion’s overlooking the sea. The original gate to the fort was by the harbor. It is still there, marked by the old Dutch V.O.C ( for ‘Verenigde Oost Indische Compagnie) arms with a rooster crest.
